Start with your total budget and must-have features
For a total budget up to ¥500,000, define the essential functions. Around ¥700,000, compare condition and equipment. Around ¥1,000,000, consider the specification and years of use you want. These are priorities for planning a purchase, not promises that a particular model, year or mileage is available at that price.
You do not need to choose between Every, Hijet Cargo and N-VAN first. iWorks can help you consider everyday work and maintenance after purchase.
What should you prioritise at each budget?
| Total purchase budget | Priorities | Conditions you might adjust |
|---|---|---|
| Up to ¥500,000 | Required maintenance, remaining inspection validity, air conditioning and door operation. | Colour, minor cosmetic marks and model-name preference. Never trade away safety to meet a price. |
| Around ¥700,000 | Condition, service history, equipment and warranty at the same total cost. | Separate must-have equipment from accessories that can be added later. |
| Around ¥1,000,000 | Year/mileage suited to intended use, necessary safety equipment and specification. | Choose which matters most: lower mileage, newer year or higher grade. |
A larger budget does not guarantee every wish. Understand why the particular vehicle suits your use, rather than judging only by price.

Compare the total price, not the vehicle price alone
The total used-car price includes the vehicle plus the minimum required insurance, taxes and registration-related costs for the stated selling conditions. Check assumptions such as local registration and collection at the dealership.
Compare final quotations on the same basis. Registration outside the dealer’s area, home delivery and optional navigation or dashcams may cost extra. Separate what is included from requested extras. Also budget for voluntary insurance, fuel, inspection and other running costs after collection.

Up to ¥500,000: define the essential functions
Be specific about whether you will carry tools, make local deliveries or transport items only at weekends. Consider accepting different colours, small cosmetic marks or an OEM sister model, while checking everyday necessities such as air conditioning and cargo access.
- Inspection and servicing: remaining inspection validity and work to be done before delivery.
- Condition: mechanical parts, underbody, consumables and any disclosed faults.
- Planned use: how many more years and kilometres you intend to drive.
If nothing meets your requirements within budget, adjusting conditions or waiting for incoming stock are options. There is no need to rush into a poorly explained vehicle simply because it is cheap.
Around ¥700,000: balance condition and equipment
For daily delivery or site work, compare convenience as well as purchase price. At the same total cost, service records, interior/exterior condition, equipment and warranty can change the best choice.
Separate useful extras from essentials
List keyless entry, power windows, a reversing camera, ETC or other features you require. Compare buying a van with them fitted against adding them after purchase.
- Driving: AT/MT preference, hills, motorways and load.
- Work: occupants, loading access, cargo scratches and dirt.
- Maintenance/warranty: work included, covered parts, duration, mileage limits and exclusions.
An example enquiry: “My total budget is around ¥700,000 for an automatic delivery van. I need a reversing camera, but colour does not matter.” Clear priorities make comparisons easier.
Around ¥1,000,000: decide what the extra budget should improve
Compare year, mileage, safety features, interior comfort and specifications against your future use. Lower mileage is one factor, not proof of condition or freedom from future faults. Check history, the actual vehicle and pre-delivery maintenance together.
- Longer use: explain intended years and distance and discuss maintenance.
- Equipment: verify the actual features because year and grade differ.
- Hobbies: prioritise cargo dimensions/occupants and include accessory fitting costs.
This does not mean ¥1,000,000 guarantees a newer vehicle or no repair bills. Buy for your needs rather than spending the entire allowance.
Six checks beyond model year and mileage
- Service history and pre-delivery work: planned inspection/replacement items and surviving records.
- Structural repair history and other repairs: read both the classification and the explanation of repaired areas and condition.
- Tyres and battery: remaining life, need for replacement and whether work is included.
- Air conditioning, doors and electrics: everyday operation, not appearance alone.
- Cargo and occupants: load dimensions, seat arrangement and required seating.
- Quotation, warranty and delivery: price conditions, optional accessories, cover and intended start date.

Frequently asked questions
Can you look for a kei van under ¥500,000 total?
We welcome enquiries around your budget. Available candidates depend on stock and condition. Tell us your use, equipment and desired delivery date too.
Should I avoid a van with over 100,000 km?
Mileage alone cannot decide the purchase. Consider history, present condition and how far/long you intend to drive. We cannot guarantee no faults up to a particular distance.
Which is cheapest: Every, Hijet Cargo or N-VAN?
Year, grade, mileage and condition differ, so the name alone is not a comparison. Match use and budget, then compare quotations with the required equipment included.
Can I ask before choosing a model?
Yes. Start with “delivery work”, “carrying tools” or “around ¥700,000 total”. Replies can be requested by phone, email or LINE.
